That's just not cricket...

Found this guy in the garden today. I wouldn't have expected to see them at this time of year, and he seemed quite dozy, but must have made it out onto the drive somehow. Tried to get a few shots, bouncing flash off some white paper above him. The shots are pretty sharp, but not as sharp as I would like them, I'm going to have to read up a bit more about this macro business.

Friday Night Wine Club

I like to partake in a bottle of wine or two on a Friday night, I find it helps calm the nerves (not that they're a problem).
Decided to break routine and go for a couple of bottles of Italian wine as opposed to the usual French, after enjoying some Piemonte Whites in restaurants across the border.
Another trip to Isola on the cards for tomorrow for the first motor racing event of the year, the Trophee Andros.

Lighting up L'Escarene

An idea I have had for a little while came to fruition tonight, the road in between Sospel and L'Escarene, which is fantastic to drive, and I thought it would look good illuminated by the lights of some traffic after sunset. I had to take 5 shots in all and then download some software to "stack" the images on each other as I could only open the shutter for 30 seconds, the cars were nowhere near quick enough to cover the whole lot in that time. It took a bit of waiting for the traffic to turn up, but seemed worth it when it came together!

NYE Monaco 2011

Found a spot between Monaco and La Turbie to watch the firework display on NYE. As well as having a birds eye view for the Monaco fireworks, we could also see the fireworks down the coast in Menton, and across the border in Ventimiglia in Italy. Seeing the New Year come in over 3 countries at the same time was pretty special.

Frost like Iron filings

After the rains on Monday, we have had a return to the cold temperatures. Woke up this morning to find quite an interesting frost on the car. I didn't have enough time to get the tripod and flash out - but took a quick handheld snap of the frost, showing the different directions it lay in.

Windswept Snow

A shot from Isola 2000 yesterday. The ripples in the snow left by last weekends strong winds were sparkling in the late afternoon sunshine of the first day of 2012.
