I've got a bit of a 'thing' for castles at the moment! I spend hours pouring over maps on my phone and computer, trying to hunt down little known gems, as well as those which are better known. I think it's a combination of the intricate and resilient stonework, which survived over centuries and centuries of turmoil, also the ease with which I can send my mind back to imagine how it must have been to exist in a time where these castles were used for purpose.
